I was strongly influenced by the strong Southern women that filled my kitchen growing up. Always eager to comfort your soul with made-from-scratch comfort food they are the best bakers I know. Both my grandmother and mother were bakers by trade at some point in their lives. I took to baking quickly, even as I child I was right there with my easy-bake oven and apron ready to stir. But, let’s be honest, it was licking the spoon I was really after!
Even though I never pursued baking as an adult, I was always cooking and baking for family and friends. I have always enjoyed bringing people together and sharing my creations so others would find joy and love in each bite. And, I still love to lick the spoon afterwards. For me, there is such nostalgia in every wooden spoonful of cookie dough. So much so, my son and I prefer the dough to baked cookies!
How Bliss Began
In August of 2016 I was diagnosed with breast cancer for the second time. During chemo treatment, during a time I really needed comfort, I was not able to bake as much as I would have liked. One day during recovery after treatment, I was laying in bed and really wished I had some cookie dough. It then occurred to me, I should offer edible cookie dough.
As my recovery progressed, and I was able to stand more than a short period of time, I enjoyed spending my time in the kitchen, creating many edible cookie dough recipes. I poured my love into each recipe I created, and I am proud to offer my cookie dough to you.
After creating a delicious array of cookie dough, I needed a name for my new business. It had been a long year of stress, surgeries, fear and pain. I wanted comfort. What this cookie dough represents is the love and comfort I received as a girl in my mother’s and grandmother’s kitchens. It was that place of bliss I want everyone to share with me. The fruition of dough’licious Bliss had begun.
My hope is that you can find your Bliss in my desserts. Maybe you also had a grandmother giving you little spoons of love that bring back the fondest memories of those you love, just as I do.
